CODE OF CONDUCT

As an MLU Parent, I Will:

  1. Put My Child’s Experience First
I will remember that youth soccer is for the players and support my child’s enjoyment, development, confidence, and love of the game.
  2. Be a Positive Supporter
I will encourage effort, teamwork, sportsmanship, and improvement rather than focusing solely on winning, results, or individual performance.
  3. Let the Coaches Coach
I will support the coaching staff and avoid giving tactical or technical instructions from the sideline or undermining coaching decisions in front of players.
  4. Respect the Referees and the Game
I will respect referee decisions and will not question their integrity, judgment, or competence. I understand that mistakes are part of the game.
  5. Create a Positive Sideline
I will cheer appropriately, avoid negative or distracting comments, and help make games a positive experience for all players on the field.
  6. Treat Everyone with Respect
I will treat players, coaches, referees, opponents, and other families with dignity and respect. I will not yell at, threaten, intimidate, harass, or verbally abuse anyone.
  7. Manage My Emotions
I will model composure and good sportsmanship, even when I disagree with a decision, become frustrated, or feel strongly about the outcome of a game.
  8. Address Concerns Appropriately
I will not confront coaches, referees, players, or other parents in the heat of the moment. I will allow time to cool down and use the appropriate MLU processes to address concerns.
  9. Keep Adult Issues Away from the Players
I will not involve my child in disagreements between adults or use my child to communicate complaints or concerns.
  10. Be Responsible Online and in Communication
I will use team chats, email, social media, and other forms of communication responsibly. I will not use them to criticize, ridicule, harass, threaten, or embarrass players, coaches, referees, or other MLU families.
  11. Represent MLU Responsibly
I understand that my behavior reflects on my child, their team, and Mount Laurel United. I will follow facility rules, respect our soccer environments, and ensure that my guests do the same.
  12. Support the MLU Community
I will remember that my child is part of something bigger than their individual team. I will support teammates, other MLU players, coaches, and families and help create an environment where every player can learn, compete, make mistakes, and grow.

MLU expects parents, guardians, and spectators to uphold these standards at all practices, games, tournaments, club events, team activities, and in club-related communications, including social media and group messaging.

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action.

MLU will consider the nature, severity, frequency, and circumstances of the conduct when determining the appropriate response.
